Common oven problems we fix
If your oven will not heat, the cause is usually a bake or broil element, an igniter on gas models, or a temperature sensor. We test the full circuit, replace the failed part and calibrate the temperature so your baking comes out right.
Oven not heating
An oven that will not heat typically has a burnt bake or broil element (electric), a weak igniter or burner (gas) or a faulty temperature sensor. We test the circuit and replace the failed part.
Uneven baking
Uneven baking comes from a drifting temperature sensor, a worn door seal or a failing convection fan. We calibrate the oven and replace the part that is causing the hot and cold spots.
Igniter or element failure
If the oven clicks but does not light, or an element glows only partly, the igniter or element has weakened. We replace it and test the oven at temperature.
Door will not close
A door that will not close or seal properly lets heat escape. Bent hinges, a worn gasket or a broken latch are the common causes and quick to fix.
Temperature wrong
When the oven runs 25°F or more off the set temperature, the sensor or thermostat needs replacing or the control needs calibration. We test against a reference thermometer.
Control panel errors
Error codes or a dead display usually point to the control board or a failed relay. We read the code, test the board and replace it if it has failed.

Frequently asked questions
How much does oven repair cost in Toronto?
Most oven repairs are $99–249 in labour. Elements and igniters are $179–249, sensors, switches and door gaskets $99–199.
Why is my oven not heating?
On electric ovens a burnt bake or broil element. On gas ovens a weak igniter. Sensors and control boards can also be the cause — we test before replacing.
Why is my oven heating unevenly?
A failing temperature sensor, a worn door seal or a bad convection fan. We calibrate and replace the faulty part.
Do you fix gas and electric ovens?
Yes, both. Gas appliances are handled by technicians experienced with gas components.
My gas oven clicks but will not light. What is wrong?
The igniter has weakened and no longer draws enough current to open the gas valve. Replacing the igniter is a standard repair and the oven is tested at temperature before we leave.
My oven is 25°F or more off the set temperature.
Either the temperature sensor is drifting or the control needs calibration. We test the sensor against a reference thermometer and replace it if it is out of range.
